Some products we sell have been specifically designed for disabled people and can be sold without VAT to blind and partially sighted people. This also applies to friends, family members and charities buying for, or on behalf of, blind and partially sighted people.
All products in the online shop display two prices - the first higher price includes VAT and the second lower price excludes VAT. If these two prices are the same, it is because the item is 'zero rated', and no-one pays VAT. This includes books, special packages and some magazines.
Once you have registered your details and logged in as a shop customer, the total price you will pay (including or excluding VAT) will be listed in your basket 'total'. This total is the price that you will be charged when you check out. If there are any special delivery charges, they will also be added at this point.
The VAT rate will always be what the Government sets. From Monday 4 January 2011 the VAT rate is 20 per cent.
