Personal Development Workshop

We held a residential weekend on the 16-17 April 2011 in Newcastle, Co.
Down. 21 Deaf/Hard of Hearing people attended the two full day personal development workshop which focused on:

  • Memory tasks
  • Communication cycles
  • Assertiveness training
  • Deaf identity living/working in a mainstream world

Feedback from this residential was very positive with participants taking a lot from the experience.

IT training

Three introductory computer classes have been set up, one in Newry, and two in Dundalk Library. Altogether there are 23 Deaf/Hard of Hearing people attending these classes. The project also aims to set up English classes for the Deaf community in Dundalk Library.

In February 2011, we also held an information session on Confidence Building in Newry, Co.Down.
