Network 1000 research

Network 1000 is one of the biggest ever surveys of blind and partially sighted people in the UK.

The survey involved over 1000 interviews carried out in 2005 and 2006, where blind and partially sighted people were asked about a range of issues covering employment, educational attainment, technology, getting out and about, and more.

This section gathers together several reports than have resulted from the survey.

Network 1000 - Comparison report

The aim of this report is to compare the opinions and circumstances of the general population with the registered blind and partially sighted population in the UK for a number of topics. Published 2009.

Network 1000 - employment

This report presents findings from Network 1000 Survey 2. The report focuses upon employment status; services received by those currently in work, people who are not in work and barriers and enablers to employment. Published 2009.

Network 1000 - access to information, services and support

This report presents findings from Network 1000 Survey 2. The report focuses upon data relating to access to information, services and support, including experience of eye clinics and services offered after registration and in the last year. Published 2008.

Network 1,000 - Finance and entitlement

This report presents findings from Network 1000 Survey 2. The data was collected during interviews with 884 people. The findings presented in this report focus upon the Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance. Published 2008.

Network 1000 - Survey 1

Network 1000 Survey 1 reports the findings of the first round of interviews with over 1,000 blind and partially sighted people. The report covers a wide range of topics - including housing, employment, health, leisure and money. Published 2006.
