Access to TV

Ofcom consultation on accessing on demand video services, May 2011

Currently, there is an important lack of accessibility for blind and partially sighted people when it comes to on demand content, because the delivery of audio description is not a requirement for content delivered online.

Ofcom consultation, June 2009

Our response to Ofcom's Access and Inclusion consultation: 'Digital communications for all'

RNIB reaffirmed its position on digital inclusion, explaining that blind and partially sighted people rely on and want to use the digital world as much as, and in some cases more, than their sighted peers. We outline some of the barriers and challenges blind and partially sighted people experience in terms of accessing mainstream technologies and we call on Ofcom to prioritise the accessibility of equipment.
