Social care success 2011

In 2011, sustained campaigning by RNIB saw the Law Commission recommend that registers of blind and partially sighted people should be established and maintained by local authorities.

The registers, which had been under threat, provide an important gateway to receiving the early support that people with sight loss need to remain independent.

RNIB will continue to prioritise campaigning on social care reform during 2012, with the Care and Support Alliance.

Future of Social Care

Nearly three quarters of local authorities restrict care funding to individuals with support needs classed as "substantial" or "critical". Help us change this.
