Corporate case study - Orange UK

About the corporate partnership

Orange chose RNIB and the British Deaf Association as its joint Charity of the Year partnership. Over £150,000 was raised from November 2003 to July 2005.

Orange's UK charity campaign focused on sensory impairment which is one of the company's themes:
"Two million people in the UK can't see us. Two and a half million people can't hear us. We want to enable those with sensory disabilities to participate more fully in society. We will work to raise more funds and greater awareness."

Orange staff fundraising

Orange staff took part in numerous fundraising events across the company in the UK which included:

  • A Lands End to John O'Groats bike ride
  • The Sponsored Lyke Wake Walk in Yorkshire
  • The Orange Figure of 8 Charity Challenge - a weekend event in the Lake District incorporating canoeing, mountain biking and hiking
  • Office events such as dress down days and team events
  • Parachute jump days.

"We very much enjoyed working with the RNIB and we were able to get involved in RNIB campaigns raising awareness as well as vital funds for blind and partially sighted people. Orange staff really got behind the cause and had great fun participating in the team events, such as the Lyke Wake Walk and the weekend event in the Lake District. I'd encourage other companies to consider RNIB as their Charity of the Year."
Emma Fortes, Employment Environment Promoter at Orange.

Every day almost 100 people in the UK will start to lose their sight. Right now RNIB can only reach one in three of the people who need our help most. Choose RNIB as your Charity of the Year and help us reach them all.
