Volunteers are involved in many activities across England. The roles can be done from home, based at an RNIB office or out and about in the community.

Studio Reader

You will record a variety of text material onto CD that blind, partially sighted and /or disabled people can then access. Opportunity based at the RNIB Transcription Centre in Ivybridge.

Campaign Co-ordinator (role for a blind or partially sighted volunteer only)

Volunteering for the Campaigns team, as a coordinator you will be the main RNIB contact in your local area for groups or individuals wanting to campaign for better services for blind and partially sighted people. Opportunities available in Cornwall, Dorset, Somerset, Banes, North Devon, Bristol and Plymouth.

Volunteer Co-ordinator - Fundraising

Make a difference in your local community, by supporting and expanding our already successful team of dedicated fundraising volunteers. Opportunities available across the South West region.

Sooty Box Collector

Make a difference in your local community, by ensuring money donated by the public into our iconic Sooty boxes is collected on a regular basis from local shops, pubs and leisure centres. Opportunities available in Bristol, Somerset, Swanage, Dorset, St Ives, St Austell, Totnes, Kingsbridge and Teignbridge.

Sooty Home Finder

Find a home for Sooty and make a difference in your local community, by giving our iconic Sooty collecting box the best spot in the house. Opportunities available across the South West region.

Store Collector

Your community knowledge and personal initiative is vital for RNIB's future. With training and support you will develop links with Store Manager's/Heads of Store Merchandise to profitably generate income. Opportunities available across the South West region.

Public Speaker

You must be willing to travel and be confident in front of large groups. The reason for the talk, or interview on local radio, may be for fundraising, volunteer recruitment, campaigning, information giving, marketing, or raising awareness on sight problem issues. Opportunities available in Bath, Somerset, Dorchester and North Dorset.

'Insight' Radio Volunteer - Training Opportunity in Redhill, Surrey

This is an exciting training opportunity for anyone who is blind or partially sighted and is interested in the production side of media and who has an ambition to work within radio.

Organise your own fundraising event

Fancy a challenge? Be inspirational and find hidden skills by organising your own fundraising event on behalf of RNIB. From fashion shows to quiz nights - this is your chance get creative!

'Team RNIB' Marathon Assistant

RNIB has a team of over 600 runners who take part in various marathons and runs throughout the year, to raise money for the RNIB. We need your help in cheering on our runners and assisting them at the post race reception where they can grab a drink and relax!

Opportunities with Action for Blind People

RNIB and Action for Blind People have now joined forces to share resources, skills and expertise to engage and reach more blind and partially sighted people providing even better services.

This has resulted in more regional volunteering roles becoming available in England through Action for Blind People.
