RNIB Scottish Borders provides a wide range of activities and services supported by volunteers. A Volunteer Befriender will meet with a client on a regular basis. They may meet up for a chat, could help with reading mail, or perhaps go out for a short walk, depending on the individual. Befriending offers a supportive, reliable relationship to people who may otherwise be socially isolated.

A Volunteer Befriender is required in the Jedburgh area, you will meet with the client on a regular basis. Our customer is interested in music form the 80's and popular literature, ideally you would share these interests. Befriending offers a supportive, reliable relationship to people who may otherwise be socially isolated.

It also provides a wide range of activities and services supported by volunteers. Volunteer drivers are needed to transport clients to various appointments, activities and services within the region.
Opportunities exist in a variety of locations for lively people to have social contact with blind or partially sighted clients. Activities may include quizzes, dominoes, outings, keep fit, reading, card games, doing crosswords or just meeting for a social chat.
