Tough times and emotional support

Sight loss may be something you have been living with for a long time, or it may be a new experience. It's not unusual to have strong feelings about your eye condition and there will probably be times when you wish you had some support.

Emotional Support

If you would like to find out about the kinds of emotional support that are available, our Coping with feelings page is a good place to start.

If you have decided that you would like to have counselling, our Talking it over page offers suggestions and information about finding a counsellor.

We also offer an Emotional Support Telephone Service. This provides confidential telephone support, information and counselling to people who are experiencing emotional difficulties because of sight loss.

Stress

New places, new subjects and new challenges are all very exciting but can lead to life being stressful sometimes.

With tests, essays, exams and deadlines looming, our coping with stress pages offer tips for dealing with stress and information about sources of support.

Carolines Casebook

It can be tough growing up, and being blind or partially sighted can make things seem even more challenging. Sometimes it helps to know what other's have been through and to find out what helped them.

Caroline is a counsellor who works for RNIB and in Caroline's Casebook she talks about some typical emotional issues that blind or partially sighted young people may experience. Young people have also read these stories, shared their own personal experiences and told us what they did to overcome these situations.

Mind's Eye blog
