Complex needs

If your child has a sight problem and additional, complex health, physical or learning needs, you may have questions or concerns about how they will learn. These might include where they will go to school, or what approaches and techniques they will be able to access in their learning.

Assessment of your child's vision, abilities and special needs are important steps in helping your child to learn and get the most from school. You'll also need to understand the role of the school staff team and other professional people involved with your child.

This section is designed to give you information about the learning opportunities, education system, professionals and the work they do, particularly if your child attends, or will attend a special school.

Very young children

If your child is very young, see Early Years which includes advice that is also helpful to parents of children with complex needs.
