Support RNIB Pears Centre

You can help us provide specialist services for children and young people with complex needs and sight loss at RNIB Pears Centre for Specialist Learning (formerly RNIB Rushton School and Children's Home).

Our specialist activities and excursions give blind and partially sighted children and young people with complex needs the support they need to enhance their communication skills, access the curriculum, and develop their self esteem. These include trips out, rock climbing, horse riding, equipment for the sensory room, concert tickets and music lessons.

What our supporters say

"The work that RNIB Pears Centre does is incredible, just going to the centre you can see for yourself the impact it has on the young people. Getting involved with the new fundraising group will help ensure that vital funds are raised."
Doug Squires, Managing Director, Squires Gear and Engineering

"I first visited the home and school in 2008 looking for and finding inspiration. RNIB had started a project that would need £30 million to complete. Thanks to the work of thousands of people RNIB Pears Centre was opened by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal on Thursday 13 September 2012. Amongst the celebrations, two students, Ashleigh and Fabian, sang 'Let it Be' tremendously and beautifully to a joyously tearful audience that included Sir George Martin who, with friends, had provided the music room.
The interiors are wonderful. Space. Soft rolling walls. Pools of light. Covered 'escape' areas leading from classrooms. Storage. A great Great Hall. State-of-the-art facilities and equipment. Students and staff are very, very proud. It's world-class. Very well done."
Eric Westbrook, Registered Blind RNIB Member and Volunteer
