RNIB Rushton School and Children's Home

Established in 1957, RNIB Rushton School and Children's Home has a strong heritage. We provide specialist education, 52 week residential care, therapies and healthcare for young people with sight loss, multiple disabilities and complex health needs up to the age of 19. Our on-site school also offers education to a small number of pupils who attend on a daily basis.

Our current facilities accommodate 19 young people with six additional day places.

Re-development

RNIB has embarked upon one of our most ambitious projects to date. We are replacing the existing Rushton site with state-of-the-art facilities. The main phase of redevelopment is due for completion in 2011. Our new facility will provide a home to up to 60 young people with complex needs and sight loss. The school will provide education to all living on-site, as well as an additional 10 day students.

RNIB Rushton is open now and there will be a phased transition to our new purpose-built facilities.

Mark Sanderson, Director, comments:
"We provide an excellent standard of care and education to young people with sight problems and additional complex needs. Our exciting transformation builds on these firm foundations and will enable more young people to reach their full potential for learning, independence and fulfilment in everyday life."
