A UK winner in 2012
We are very excited and proud to announce that Alexia Sloane, aged eleven, has once again won one of the monetary prizes ($500) for her excellent piece entitled 'The United Dots of Braille'. In it she writes:
There are seven wonders of the world and there is Braille: a wonder
consisting of six tiny raised dots that sighted people will never know:
to touch words and to have them touch you back.
This follows on from Alexia's success in the 2010 competition when she was just 9 years old.
Find out more about Alexia's story including a video interview or read her essay in full:
The other winning European essays are of an excellent standard and are a fascinating insight into peoples lives, from countries such as Finland, Russia, Spain and Montenegro.
