Cinema industry

RNIB works with the film industry to make cinemas accessible to blind and partially sighted people.

Information and advice

We can offer advice to the industry on all aspects of making films and venues easier for people with a sight problem to use.

This includes:

• audio description: how to make your film release accessible
• advice on making your cinema accessible to blind and partially sighted people
• advice on audio description equipment for cinemas
• where to find an audio describer or company
training courses in audio description
guidelines for writing audio description (pages 18-20 in full document)
• visual awareness staff training
• how you can help us spread the word about accessible cinema
• general building access to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
