UK Vision Strategy launches 'Seeing it my way' consultation

UK Vision Strategy has launched a consultation to ensure every blind and partially sighted person has access to the same range of information, advice and support. 'Seeing it my way' sets out a outcomes such as emotional support and independence, and aims to get feedback from blind and partially sighted people. .

This piece of research was commissioned by The UK Association of Accessible Formats (UKAAF), the independent standards organisation in the UK. They were considering the possibility of adopting the Unified English Braille code (UEB) in the UK and wanted to know more about the views of the 'silent majority' of braille users.

A review of evidence to evaluate effectiveness of intervention strategies to address inequalities in eye health care

In 2010, RNIB commissioned Mary Seacole Research Centre (MSRC) at De Montfort University to undertake a review of the evidence relating to the causes of inequalities in eye health, and interventions to reduce inequalities, with particular reference to ethnicity, age, and socio-economic deprivation. The focus was on preventive activity in relation to specified eye conditions

Accessibility of top 1,000 titles of 2010

In 2010, RNIB commissioned LISU to undertake research to identify a baseline for how many of the 1,000 most popular books of 2009 were available in unabridged audio, braille and large print.
