Complex needs research

The focus of this research is on people who have learning disabilities in addition to sight loss. Research might also include vulnerable older people whose condition such as dementia means they have complex needs.

The aim of the research is to improve the recognition of sight loss in people with complex needs. We aim to develop and disseminate our exemplary knowledge base to seek improvement in the lives of those people.

This briefing paper considers the evidence concerning the number and cost of falls attributed to partial sightedness and blindness.

Care homes falls prevention project

As part of a review of its own policies, RNIB commissioned ARUP to conduct desk research on falls management in care homes for the elderly, looking particularly at the specific needs of older people who are blind or partially sighted.
