Background

This literature review was produced by PHAST for NHS Tower Hamlets in September 2009 as part of the 'Care Needs Assessment: Eye Health' project commissioned by NHS Tower Hamlets.

Key findings

The review focuses on some of the leading causes of sight loss in the UK: Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Cataracts, Diabetic Retinopathy and Glaucoma. It outlines literature on pathology, epidemiology and risk factors for each condition, and other areas such as treatments and screening.
