Manifesto Summary

RNIB Cymru has looked at the May 2011 manifestos of the four main policitcal parties in Wales. You can have a look at the main points which we think are most relevant to you in our manifesto summary.

Cross Party Vision Group

The Cross Party Vision Group was created by RNIB Cymru and the Welsh Government in June 2010 and is supported by the four Welsh political parties. The group is chaired by Sandy Mewies AM for Delyn and meets annually. Its aims are:

  • to raise awareness across the National Assembly of the issues faced by people with sight loss
  • to make sure the voices of and experiences of people with sight loss can be directly heard by Assembly members
  • to bring new ideas for policy and legislation from all parties, and evaluate how effective these are
  • to oversee promotion of the UK (Wales) Vision Strategy

PIP Proposals

Current proposals to reform the Disabilityu Living Allowance (DLA) mean that there will be no automatic entitlements. The government proposes to change DLA to a Personal Independence Payment (PIP). RNIB Cymru has some concerns about the proposed changes and has joined with partner organiosations to produce a response, based on what members across Wales told us.
