Tell us your experience of air travel

RNIB's Senior Legal Officer, Samantha Fothergill, would like to hear from you if you have experienced poor service when travelling by air.

Over the last few months, RNIB has heard a number of complaints from blind and partially sighted people about their experiences of air travel. These include:

  • people being told they have to use a wheelchair whilst being escorted through the airport
  • only being allowed to disembark after all other passengers and then having to wait for assistance to arrive and being escorted to a holding area prior to departure
  • not having access to a drink, toilets or departure information (e.g. when a plane is late).

These are all areas potentially covered by the European Air Travel Directive and we'd like to take these issues up with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) who are responsible for policing the Directive. Please tell us your experiences by contacting the campaigns hotline on 020 7391 22123 and we can pass these on to the CAA.
