Commenting on the launch of the Welsh Government's draft Eye Care Plan, Ceri Jackson, Director of RNIB Cymru, said: "We are delighted that Wales will soon have its first Eye Care Plan, which we consider to be a very promising sign in terms of the priority Welsh Government is now placing on eye care.
"We will be scrutinising the draft plan, which we would expect to include both how Welsh Government will reduce the number of people losing their sight and how they will ensure improved services for people with sight loss.
"We would also expect the plan to contain robust accountability mechanisms to ensure that the actions within it will be fully implemented.
"Over the next few months we will be asking our members, and other blind and partially sighted people, what they think of the draft plan, and their views will then inform our response to Welsh Government."
