New Acting Director

Following the announcement that Sarah Rochira is to leave RNIB Cymru to become the next Older People's Commissioner for Wales, we have appointed Ceri Jackson to the role of Acting Director.

A gradual handover will take place over the coming weeks, with Ceri taking over full responsibility for the running of the organisation when Sarah steps down on 1 June. The process of recruiting for a permanent Director is expected to begin shortly, but the appointment of an Acting Director will ensure the organisation can continue to operate as normal throughout this period.

About Ceri Jackson

Ceri has worked for RNIB for many years, in a variety of operational and management roles, and currently leads on RNIB Cymru's Sight Loss Prevention, External Affairs and membership work. Ceri is also Chair of the Advisory Group for the Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service for Wales, Chair of the National Eye Health Week Coalition and a founder member of the Wales Vision Strategy.

On her appointment as Acting Director, Ceri said: "RNIB Cymru has gone from strength to strength over the past year and we're in a really exciting place. We are reaching more people than ever with a range of new services and support, opening up across Wales.

"On top of all this, we've got our move to new premises, where we'll be co-locating with Cardiff, Vales and Valleys (formerly Cardiff Institute for the Blind) and providing a new, high-tech resource centre for blind and partially sighted people in the heart of the city. My priority is to ensure all these exciting developments continue as planned whilst the recruitment of a permanent Director takes place.

"I've worked for RNIB for a long time; I know just how hard our staff, volunteers and members work every day and the real and highly valued difference that our work makes to the lives of blind and partially sighted people across Wales. It is an honour and a privilege to have the opportunity to take on the role of Acting Director and I look forward to working with you all over the coming months as we continue to deliver those top quality services and campaign for change."
