Action for Blind People, an Associate charity of RNIB is now delivering regional services in England.

The Regional Centres provide a range of services across the UK. They include: job search help, IT assessments, training courses, information for teachers, advocacy services for parents, family events and activities.

RNIB also has a site at Peterborough that is home to some of our specialist services. We offer site tours if you are interested in finding out more about how RNIB supports people with sight loss.

Blind people in Sheffield call for health information they can read

Media release from 22nd July 2009 regarding new research commissioned by RNIB finding that patient safety, confidentiality and choice are routinely compromised as 95 per cent of blind and partially sighted people are never asked which reading format they require by NHS staff providing healthcare information. RNIB's campaign to change this situation, 'Losing Patients', launches in Sheffield on 17 July with the support of Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind (SRSB).

Save sight now to reduce costs later

Media release dated 15th June 2009 regarding Eye disease and sight loss costing the UK nearly £6.5bn in 2008, according to new research which informs, 'Cost Oversight', a report due later this summer from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). In addition, research found that the impact on quality of life (including loss of healthy life and premature death) associated with partial sight and blindness also has a cost to society, estimated at a further £15.5bn in 2008.
