Walk the Walk RNIB NI

Don't just talk the talk, walk the walk for RNIB Northern Ireland.

That's exactly what Aoife McGlade undertook and got family and friends to do the same.
On 14 April, Aoife accompanied by a like minded group of people scaled the heights of Slieve Donard, near Newcastle Co.Down.

This was to raise money for Both RNIB NI's children and youth service and research into the eye condition Stargardts following recent diagnosis.

Aoife said, "Stargardts hit our family last year when my brother and I got diagnosed with the disease. Before this time last year we didn't have a clue what this was or what it entailed. Stargardts is a genetic disease which causes a deterioration of the central vision. It is a very rare condition which I'm sure not many of you reading this have heard of it until now".

Niall Dempsey, RNIB NI Youth Development Officer said, "This was an amazing feat not only for Aoife but to get so many other people both family and friends to commit to the training, the climb and of course the fund raising.

This money will allow RNIB NI to provide more opportunities for young people with sight loss to try out a range of different activities at our residential weekends."
Aoife continued, "We really wanted to do this so other people could benefit from some of the activities we have and know we're supporting RNIB NI's Youth service".
