Youth engagement

Haggeye is a project that works across Scotland to bring together young people aged 12 to 25 years old with sight loss. Haggeye aims to make a difference by campaigning for accessible services, facilities and opportunities, both locally and nationally.

RNIB Scotland youth engagement strategy

Funding from the Big Lottery Fund for Haggeye ended in June 2010. As a direct result of the hard work, enthusiasm and commitment of those involved, we are delighted to announce that RNIB Scotland has incorporated this project into its core services by establishing a youth engagement strategy.

Mo Colvin, RNIB Scotland's Youth Engagement Officer, manages the project.

Events and activities

Haggeye offers opportunities for children and young people to:

  • Campaign for change
  • Influence the provision of services
  • Meet new people and make new friends
  • Take part in social activities
  • Discuss issues

'Stop and Stare'

Haggeye is currently working on their new campaign, 'Stop and Stare', to raise awareness of what it is like to be young and live with sight loss. A major part of this campaign is the development of an interactive tool kit designed to offer information, activities and resources to help people understand the isolation and exclusion that those living with sight loss often experience.

Read the press release for further information.

If you would like to know more about the work of Haggeye, or to request a copy of the Stop and Stare pack, please contact Mo on 0131 652 3146, or email mo.colvin@rnib.org.uk.
