FAQs about VILD services in Scotland

RNIB's award winning Visual Impairment and Learning Disability (VILD) team offers an extensive range of support, outreach and assessment services in Scotland.

How much do the services cost?

All our services are available at a flat rate of £14.14 per hour. This does not include transport or meals, which can be arranged separately on request at an additional charge.

When are the services available?

The VILD assessment services are available Monday to Friday, 8am to 11pm daily. Outreach and Home support are available Monday to Sunday 8am to 11pm daily.

Where are VILD services available?

We offer VILD services in the following areas:

  • Glasgow City, Glasgow North and South
  • East Dunbartonshire
  • West Dunbartonshire
  • East Renfrewshire
  • Lanarkshire
  • Argyll & Bute

Do you provide transport?

Transport can be provided at an additional cost to provide a door-to-door service. Please contact VILD to discuss your transport needs.

What quality assurance do you have in place?

We will offer more choice and control by offering complete involvement at every stage of the planning and delivery process

  • We will take time and listen to what you want
  • We will provide a contract to agree what we will do to help achieve outcomes
  • Support will be reviewed regularly to ensure we manage any changes in support needs.
  • Our staff are CRB checked, highly qualified and responsive to personal care and health needs.

How can I create a bespoke care package for the person I support?

We understand that commissioning services for someone with learning disability and sight loss is a huge responsibility.
