British hero heralds marathon success

British inspiration

Inspirational Phil Packer, who lost the movement in both of his legs while on duty in Iraq in 2008, today celebrated completion of his second London Marathon. Phil, who walked the 26 miles in 26 hours for 26 different charities, was supported for one hour by Bilal Hussein, a registered blind student from RNIB College Loughborough.

RNIB's support:

Phil says: "During my journey, I have met so many young people who have overcome what could be seen as enormous challenges and they never give up. Bilal's support is crucial to both my understanding of disability and of the work of RNIB. He, like the other young people accompanying me on my journey, drive me forward in my plan to build the British Inspiration Trust, and I know that his, and RNIB's support will be the start of a very special long-term partnership and relationship."
