Give without giving this Christmas!

Send us stamps!

This Christmas it is estimated that we will send over 750 million Christmas cards and letters* to friends and family. Leading sight loss charity the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is asking the public to save their used stamps this Christmas to help raise vital funds for people in the UK living with sight loss.

The charity is asking that stamps be sorted into three categories; British, pre-decimal and foreign. Stamps do not need to be sorted into individual countries or prices but asks NOT to peel the stamp from the envelope as they are easily damaged. Another way you can help is to purchase stamps at your post office rather than a franked label and once they've been used, send them to RNIB's appeal.

£3 a kilogram

Why not ask your friends and family for their help too or ask them to start collecting as well? For one kilogram of British stamps, RNIB can expect to receive around £3 and approximately £12 for foreign stamps. All funds will go towards offering information, support and advice to anyone with a sight problem.

Terri Bush, Volunteer RNIB Stamp Appeal Coordinator, said:
"RNIB collects stamps all year round but Christmas is always an extra busy time due to the sheer volume of cards that we send to each other.

"It couldn't be easier to give this Christmas without actually giving to support RNIB's work with blind and partially sighted people. We really need as many stamps as possible to help keep the appeal going strong. We hope to smash last year's total of just over £10,000 but need your help. Please help us to help those who rely on us."

All stamps can be sent to: RNIB, PO Box 6198, Leighton Buzzard, LU7 9XT.
