Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is offering members of the public the chance to be one of the first people in the world to run at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford on Sunday 1 April. All funds raised will help the UK's leading sight loss charity in its work with blind and partially sighted people.
Opportunity of a lifetime
The Gold Challenge event offers an opportunity of a lifetime for sports fans to run on the world famous athletic track in a 100m sprint against other charity runners. Other participants on the day include; Team GB legends, celebrity charity ambassadors and representatives from the other 150 UK charities involved in this event. With an expected crowd of around 20,000 - all runners can expect a very warm welcome!
RNIB is selling each place at £250. These places are strictly limited and are on a first come basis. Anyone interested in buying a place or finding out more, should contact Laura Kirkwood on 020 7 391 2108.
PC David Rathband
PC David Rathband, 44 will be representing RNIB at the event. David was shot and blinded in July 2010. He said:
"I'm delighted to be involved in this exciting event and representing RNIB. The charity does amazing work around the country with blind and partially sighted people and has transformed so many lives for the better. The event promises to be a day to remember."
Laura Kirkwood, Sporting and Event Challenge Manager, said:
