A local charity is set to benefit from a year's fundraising thanks to Sainsburys South Ruislip customers and colleagues. RNIB Sunshine House School has been chosen as Sainsbury's new Local Charity partner South Ruislip for 2012/2013. The announcement comes after the store asked South Ruislip and Ruislip customers which local charity they should provide a year's support to. Customers were able to vote for their favourite local charity between 9th and 23rd May.
The partnership officially launched on 6th June 2012 and customers can now choose to make a donation in-store to RNIB Sunshine House School, who are situated on Dene Road, Northwood. The school, which was founded by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) in 1918, provides a safe and supportive environment for blind and partially sighted children with significant learning difficulties and disabilities to meet their full potential in education. Over the next 12 months, the charity will benefit from Sainsbury's Local Charity partner scheme, now in its fourth year.
During the next 12 months, colleagues will be providing fundraising support for RNIB Sunshine House and raising awareness of the charity with the local community. Sainsbury's South Ruislip Store Manager Danny Marks said: "RNIB Sunshine House is such a worthy local cause and we're pleased and proud to be supporting it over the next 12 months. We'll be letting our customers know of our fundraising plans in-store and we hope they can join our colleagues in helping support them".
Jackie Seaman, Head of Education of RNIB Sunshine House School said: "I'd like to thank everyone at Sainsbury's South Ruislip who's nominated us to be the store's new Local Charity partner. I hope this partnership will raise awareness to Ruislip residents about the work we do and the impact it has in the community. We now look forward to a successful year working with the store's colleagues on this exciting initiative".
