RNIB's response to the confirmation of the launch of new iPad, 8 March 2012

Robin Spinks, RNIB Principal Manager of Digital Accessibility said:

"Blind and partially sighted people will benefit from a number of features on the new iPad. The retina display delivers a much sharper image for partially sighted people who enjoy eBooks and looking at photographs while the new dictation feature will help users with email, notes and document creation.

"Also, Apple's award winning, in built VoiceOver and Zoom features will allow anyone with sight loss to access the iPad.

"Technology today is a far cry from the ubiquitous beige box computers of just a few years ago. Nowadays blind and partially sighted people want to harness the life changing potential of tablets and smartphones and we welcome the new technology that makes this possible."
