RNIB have a team of experts on hand to offer information to the media on a variety of subjects. Here are a few examples:
Amanda Hawkins
Amanda has been the Senior Manager of RNIB's Emotional Support Service since 2009. Amanda is a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist who has an expertise in disability and working with Children and Young people.
Amanda leads the work of developing Emotional Support services across RNIB for people whose lives have been affected by sight loss. She is the current Chair of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and is also Chair of The VINCE (Visual Impairment Network for Counselling and Emotional Support) Research Committee.
Steve Winyard
Steve has been Head of Policy and Campaigns at RNIB since 1995. He speaks on a wide range of issues including eye health, social care, employment and disability benefits. He has led RNIB's work to secure patient access to sight saving treatments for wet macular degeneration and glaucoma. He is Chair of the Glaucoma Alliance and past Chair of the AMD Alliance International.
Robin Spinks
Robin currently works as Principal Manager, Digital Accessibility at RNIB where he leads a team of accessibility specialists. Robin has worked in the disability sector for eleven years including four years in international development working with NGOs in Africa, South Asia and the Caribbean establishing a sustainable low cost assistive technology model.
Robin is also Chair of Vision 2020 UK Technology for Life Working Group, Vice Chair of Albinism Fellowship www.albinism.org.uk and an active member of the World Blind Union Technical Committee.
As a technology enthusiast and a person with low vision, Robin travels extensively promoting the potential of digital technology. His current interests include post PC devices, smartphones and using technology to improve employability and self advocacy.
Clara Eaglen
Clara is Policy and Campaigns Manager at RNIB, specialising in eye health. She speaks on a range of topics including access to treatments and care delivery for eye conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, cataract, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.
Clara leads RNIB's eye health policy and influencing work and is involved in a number of eye health promotion projects.
