Environmental Policy Statement

Eliminating or reducing the adverse environmental impacts that our organisation may have on the environment is important to us. Effective environmental management is an integral part of our efforts to achieve RNIB's vision.

Our main objective is to maximise the environmental efficiency of our buildings and work practice, reducing pollution and avoiding unnecessary costs.

We are committed to continual improvement and we will set annual targets. We are also committed to meeting or exceeding the requirements of applicable environmental legislation through RNIB policies and procedures.

To ensure we meet our commitments, we undertake to periodically monitor and review our environmental performance and take corrective action where necessary. We will also ensure that there are sufficient resources and arrangements in place to achieve and maintain appropriate levels of control, communication and competence.

Everyone has a responsibility for our environmental performance. In particular, managers are responsible for the areas under their control and must seek to minimise waste, promote recycling, reduce energy consumption and, where possible, to work with suppliers who themselves have sound environmental policies.

This policy will be reviewed at least annually.

As Chief Executive Officer I am ultimately responsible for the efficacy of the environmental protection controls in place. I will, with Group Directors, work to ensure that this policy is implemented throughout RNIB.
