RNIB leads the way in informing, supporting and advising almost two million blind and partially sighted people in the UK. Could you help us make the big decisions - the ones that determine both our current success and our future strategic direction?
If you join our Board of Trustees, you'll help keep the entire organisation on course. You'll bring your own unique viewpoint and skills to the table, taking a strategic outlook throughout.
We have recently embarked on development of the RNIB Group Strategy 2014 - 19 to ensure that we remain on target to achieve our vision - that is a world where blind and partially sighted people enjoy the same rights, responsibilities, opportunities and quality of life as people who are sighted. We are therefore particularly keen to hear from someone who has strategic planning experience, has operated at Board level, can demonstrate an understanding of how complex organisations function and has an awareness of change management principles.
In addition to seeking someone with strategic planning experience, in order truly to reflect the diversity of our service users, we are also very keen to strengthen representation from Black and Minority Ethnic communities on our Board of Trustees. We also want to ensure that we retain our current high level of blind and partially sighted people on our Board of Trustees.
Whatever your background, you'll need to be creative, strategically minded, strong willed and, of course, genuinely committed to our aims. You must also be able to commit up to 14 days each year to attend appropriate meetings.
Positions are unremunerated but reasonable expenses are payable. Additionally, in exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to obtain approval for a modest payment for demonstrable loss of earnings which are directly attributable to the commitment involved in being a Trustee.
