BCAB Trainer Certification Scheme

Summary: Find out about the BCAB Trainer Certification Scheme, enabling access technology trainers to work towards a qualification.

Raising the standard of Access Technology training

BTCS provides a professional qualification for Access Technology trainers in the UK.

The qualification requires that all trainers have good training skills. This ensures that a trainer can transfer knowledge effectively. Also, it ensures that a trainer has good knowledge of the product for which they are providing training. This guarantees that a trainee receives good information and learns in a manner which optimises their use of the technology.

Who will benefit?

The beneficiaries of the scheme are:-

Trainers

  • Receive recognition of excellence
  • Development of training skills and product knowledge
  • Membership of a professional body
  • Inclusion on the register of certified trainers.

Trainees

  • Have access to high quality Assistive Technology training
  • A register of qualified trainers
  • A trainers’ Code of Practice.

Manufacturers and vendors

  • Can be assured of better quality training
  • Increased user and trainer satisfaction
  • Have an opportunity to influence standards.

Feedback from qualified trainers

"I took part in the BCAB Trainer Certification Scheme to achieve the most comprehensive training available to visually impaired people in the country . . . I would strongly advise any person going in to the field of technology in this area to complete a BTCS course" Charles Clark.

"The scheme is essential if you are an Access Technology trainer and in the long term it will benefit both you and your clients" Barry Coates.
