Are you interested in issues that affect blind and partially sighted people?   We are looking for someone to join our busy campaigns team to help us identify, plan and take action on local campaigning issues, organise RNIB’s campaigns at a local level and lobby MPs, NHS trusts, local authorities etc., to help make everyday better for people living with sight loss.

This role does not require a criminal record check.

What will I be doing?

  • Identifying, planning and taking action on local campaigning issues whilst feeding updates back to the team
  • building links and developing contacts with relevant local organisations, groups and individuals;
  • keeping supporters abreast of campaigns and supporting their involvement in activities
  • helping to organise campaign events and activities
  • Publicising agreed campaigns to local media and local decision makers and influencers such as MPs, councillors etc.
  • You may also be supported to take on roles within your local community (such as NHS trust boards) where opportunities exist.

What skills and qualities can I bring to this role?

You do not need prior experience of campaigning, the following skills are desirable:

  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, including the willingness to speak to new people, both to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to listen to the opinions of others and consider different points of view
  • Good understanding of issues affecting blind and partially sighted people.
  • Good local knowledge and an ability to identify local issues

When will I be needed?

Flexible to suit volunteer, but a commitment of at least 20 hours (3 days) a month would be desirable.                            

Occasional attendance at regional events, meetings or training may also be required; this will vary from region to region


Home based across Yorkshire and Humber.
