"I'm not one for fancy words, so as Nicholas Monsarrat did in his book 'The Cruel Sea', I'll get right to the point.
My name is David Gould. I'm blind and I'm an RNIB Talking Book user.
Around 40,000 people in this country subscribe to RNIB Talking Books. It's a unique service offered by RNIB, who record and create full-length audio books accessible to people with sight problems.
Many of the people who share my passion for these wonderful 'speaking' books are around my age (84) and, like me, have gone blind in later life. Some are much younger though: young men and women; even children.
I can't talk for all those who use the service, but I think we'd all agree on one thing, these audio books are more than just a service. As you can probably imagine, they're an absolute lifeline.
RNIB urgently need to record up to 450 new titles to add to their Talking Book service this year. More books on offer will not only mean more choice to those like me who already use the service, it will give other people who have lost their sight the chance to find a quiet break from their day-to-day struggles."

Fill a life with RNIB Talking Books today
"For me, going blind is like having the guts ripped out of your life. Yet although I will never see again, it doesn't mean I've stopped living. RNIB Talking Books have helped make sure of that.
Today you can help transform someone else's life. So please help now if you possibly can by donating whatever you can afford. RNIB will use the money to support their Talking Book service and other essential services. The sooner you support RNIB, the sooner more people with sight problems can benefit from your generosity."
Thank you
