Welcome to The Focus - news from around RNIB

We want to say a massive thank you for everyone who helped in 2011. You've helped us into the record books - check out our Guinness World record breaking video and supported blind and partially sighted people in so many ways.

Work on the RNIB Pears Centre in Coventry is now completed and the young people have settled in thanks to your help

Thanks to your support blind and partially sighted people are now entitled to more benefits. In April 2011, after sustained campaigning, the eligibility for the higher rate mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) came into force for blind and partially sighted people.

However, proposed changes to the Welfare Reform Bill, which is currently going through Parliament, could still hit disabled people the hardest. We're campaigning to ensure that this doesn't happen.

You may have seen our recent advertising campaign raising awareness of the issues blind and partially sighted people face. With your help, we'll continue to defend rights, benefits, services and jobs for blind and partially sighted people.

Campaigning news

Disability Living Allowance campaign

It took a two and half year campaign, two huge Parliamentary lobbies, and hundreds of letters... but finally the Government made vital changes to Disability Living Allowance. This means increased mobility and opportunities for thousands of people with severe sight loss. Well done to all who took part!
