Put your affairs in order
Making your Will gives you the chance to put your affairs in order and to avoid any confusion about your wishes after you die.
An up-to-date, professionally written Will is the only way to ensure the people and causes you care about are provided for.

Your wishes are carried out
If you die without making a Will your possessions will be distributed according to UK law intestacy rules, which will not necessarily be how you would wish. By writing a Will you decide who you want to benefit. If you are not married or in a civil partnership, your partner will not automatically inherit your estate if you do not have a valid Will.
See GOV.UK - making a Will for more information on the financial reasons to make a Will.
Keep it updated
Once you have a Will it's vital to keep it up to date. You should review your Will at least every two years to make sure it takes into account any changes in your life. For example if you have recently married or divorced, become parents or grandparents, recently retired or moved house - any changes to your marital, family or financial circumstances could mean that your Will needs updating.
