Support that makes a difference every day

Blind and partially sighted people often do not have the support they need to rebuild their lives following sight loss.

Our work gives people one to one support to help people get on with their lives; from education and employment services, to providing clubs for blind and partially sighted children, enabling them to grow in confidence and gain vital life skills; and from helping people deal with domestic and accommodation issues to improving access to books, newspapers, TV and communications technologies. And we help them to tackle some of life's basic challenges, such as shopping, banking, and simply getting around.

Katie is hooked on rock climbing nowKatie's story

Katie is a bright and animated child, but she was born with Nystagmus - meaning that her eyes move uncontrollably, making it extremely difficult for her to focus. Katie's mother Frances didn't know how Katie would ever be able to play and simply enjoy being a child. But on her first trip to her local Actionnaires club Katie tried rock climbing, and was hooked.
