Building confidence and independence
Having a sight problem shouldn't be a barrier to learning, education or getting a job. We work to ensure that blind and partially sighted children and adults get the best out of school and college.
We empower people living with sight loss, and offer a wide range of learning opportunities. Our employment advisors build strong links with local employers and give their specialist advice to help people find employment, start their own businesses or stay in their current jobs after losing their sight.
We also run residential schools and colleges for children over 5 years old and who have complex needs. And we organise training in areas such as IT and access technology. Reading is an important part of learning, so we make books in accessible formats, including braille, large print and Talking Books. Our support and range of programmes make sure that a sight problem is no barrier to learning.
