RNIB provides a world of accessible books

A whole world of accessible books

We help blind and partially sighted people of all ages discover a new world of reading. Whether it's for pleasure or learning, they can access a wide choice of books in formats such as braille and large print.

Since 1935, RNIB Talking Books has issued millions of books to blind and partially sighted people across the country, making it one of the most popular services ever provided by a charity in the UK. While the RNIB National Library Service is the largest library in the UK for readers with sight loss.

Through our Transcription Service we can turn printed material and electronic documents into braille, large print and digital audio. As well as produce tactile diagrams, accessible sheet music and convert bank statements, bills and letters into a format that people with sight problems can read.

Reading is important for everyone's wellbeing, and people living with sight loss can learn, be inspired or simply relax with a book too.

Your donations help us fund Talking Books for people like GeoffGeoff's story

Geoff, who has been in numerous bands playing with both sighted and blind musicians has benefitted from Talking Books for more than 30 years. He was introduced to the service by a friend in the 1970s, and he would take them abroad while touring the world playing piano, and singing in elite establishments. Geoff still enjoys Talking Books for more than an hour a day since he has retired
