I am here appeal

Help make sure no one has to face sight loss alone.

Liz's story

Liz’s life changed without warning. Whilst watching television one evening, her sight just went. Naturally, Liz had many questions, but nobody was there to help.

They told me the bad news. Then I was on my own.

Sadly Liz’s experience is not isolated. Today fewer than one in ten people losing their sight are offered the support they need. Sight loss advisers can provide practical and emotional support for people who are newly diagnosed, or who are in the early stages of sight loss. However there are simply not enough sight loss advisers to be there for everyone that needs them.  You could help us provide more by donating today.

Take a look at this short video of Liz’s story, in her own words

You could help more sight loss advisers say “I am here” for people like Liz.

Every 15 minutes another person in the UK starts to lose their sight. Who will be there for them? Your donation to RNIB today could help ensure that more sight loss advisers are trained and available in hospital eye clinics across the UK. Donate now.

What your support could do

  • £25 could pay for a 60 minute session with a sight loss adviser helping someone cope with the shock of finding out they’re going blind
  • £50 could pay for 2 hours of support to provide urgently needed emotional and practical help for someone like Liz
  • £100 could pay for 4 hours of a sight loss adviser’s time to help make the overwhelming feel manageable
  • £250 could give someone like Liz a series of ongoing support sessions with a sight loss adviser – the right support for a long journey.

We appreciate your support
