RNIB news and events
Want to learn more about our work?
RNIB Supporter Receptions, held at different locations across the UK, are a fantastic way for us to share information about our work with you and demonstrate how legacy gifts help create a brighter future for people with sight loss.
Our final reception last year was held at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and a huge number of our supporters came along to learn more about what we do and how they can be a part of our work.
Liz from our Pears Centre for Specialist Learning in Coventry spoke about the work we do for children with sight loss and complex needs. Jacquie O’Neale, a parent of one of our students, spoke movingly about the difference the school has made to the life of her son. James from our Music Advisory Service gave an insight into the work his team does with blind and partially sighted musicians and even brought along his recorder to treat the audience to a musical recital! To make the day even more special, our colleagues in Heritage Services came along to display some photographs and artefacts from our archive to demonstrate RNIB’s rich history. We finished the day with a delicious lunch and many guests took the opportunity to have a look around the beautiful botanical gardens.
We are now busy planning our Supporter Receptions for 2014, and will be visiting lots more interesting venues. If you would like to come along to a Supporter Reception this year, call us on 0845 600 0313 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) or visit our Supporter receptions calendar.
Volunteer with us
Make a difference in your local community by joining our team of dedicated fundraising volunteers collecting regularly at local supermarkets, shopping centres and other venues throughout the year and across the UK. This could involve supporting our 'Love Your Eyes' campaign by giving out information about eye health at collections, or collecting money at one-off events such as Christmas carol singing or Read for RNIB activities. You can also help us find homes for our Sooty collection boxes in local shops and businesses, and empty and bank the loose change collected. We have various roles and can help find the right one for you!
