About the RNIB raffle

Key information

  1. Prize winning cheques will be distributed to winners within 28 days of this draw, and will be sent to the address registered at the time players enter the draw.
  2. Winners will be notified by post, email or telephone within two weeks of the draw date. A list of winners will also be published on our raffle winners’ page.
  3. Names of winners and results of the raffle will be available on receipt of a request to: Fundraising, RNIB, 105 Judd Street, London, WC1H 9NE.
  4. RNIB is registered with the Gambling Commission to operate this raffle, remote licence number 000-004968-R-314007-001. These licences are issued under Part 5 of the Gambling Act 2005. The person responsible for this raffle is Steven Greenberg.
  5. Requests for additional raffle tickets, requests to be removed from future raffle mailings, or any concerns about this raffle should be addressed to: Fundraising, RNIB, 105 Judd Street, London, WC1H 9NE. Ticket facts

How much do RNIB raffle tickets cost?

Raffle tickets cost just £1 each.

Why am I always sent two books of tickets, even if I ask for less?

Our raffle books are pre-packed in packs of two and this is the most cost effective way for us to dispatch them. If you wish to buy or sell less than two books, that's fine. Please just send any unsold tickets back together with those you've sold.

How can I enter the RNIB raffle?

You can enter the raffle online when the draw is open or you can request tickets by post. For RNIB raffle rules, read our terms and conditions.

Prizes

What are the prizes for mainland Britain?

The prizes for mainland Britain in our Christmas raffle are as follows:

  • First prize: £10,000
  • Second prize: £1,000
  • Third prize: £500
  • Fourth prize: £250
  • Five prizes of £100
  • Five prizes of £50
  • One hundred prizes of £10.

What are the prizes for Northern Ireland?

  • First prize: £2,000
  • Five runner-up prizes: £250.

Why are the prizes smaller for Northern Ireland?

Northern Ireland raffle is run under a separate licence. As fewer people take part in the Northern Ireland raffle, the prize fund is smaller.

Selling tickets

Who can I sell raffle tickets to? Can I sell them door to door?

You can buy tickets for yourself or you can sell them to friends, family and people at work, but it is illegal to sell them door to door.

Can my son/daughter sell them for you?

We would be delighted, as long as they are over 16 years of age. It is illegal to sell raffle tickets to children under the age of 16, and for people under 16 to sell raffle tickets.

How do you know if people are stealing from you?

We keep a very careful check of who we send tickets to, how much money they have paid us and we ask for all unsold tickets to be returned.

What should I do with the tickets I can’t sell?

Sell as many as you can and then return the ones you haven't, together with the money and stubs from the ones you have sold.

Returning tickets and payment

How do I pay you the money?

It's very simple. You will receive an addressed envelope which you can use to return the ticket stubs to us with a cheque or postal order. Please make sure that all of your ticket stubs are filled in correctly.

Who do I make the cheques or postal orders payable to?

Please make cheques or postal orders payable to "RNIB Charity".

What details need to be completed on the raffle ticket stubs?

The purchaser's name and full address need to be clearly written. If you buy tickets for yourself, you can use the sticky labels we provide for convenience. It's useful to add a daytime phone number too, as we always try to contact winners by telephone first.

Can I just complete the first stub of the book?

Every ticket is entered individually and has an equal chance of winning, so we do need the purchaser's details on each ticket stub please.

I’ve lost my reply slip, what do I do?

You can still submit your entry. Please include a covering note, with your ticket stubs and payment, which includes your name and address. If you are making a donation as well as purchasing tickets, please let us know how much is towards the sale of tickets and how much you are donating.

When returning tickets, please remember to:

  • Make sure all ticket stubs are correctly filled in
  • Make your cheque or postal order for the total amount payable to "RNIB Charity"
  • Complete your reply slip and enclose it with your cheque or postal order and ticket stubs in the reply envelope provided.

I've posted my raffle tickets back for the draw, but have forgotten to include the cheque/ticket stubs. What shall I do?

Everything will be sent back to you. Please wait until you receive this and then re-send to us with the missing item included.

I have been unable to sell my raffle tickets. Shall I send them back?

Yes please. Return the tickets to the address on the back of the book of tickets with a small cover note asking for the tickets to be cancelled.

Buying tickets

How old do I have to be to purchase and sell raffle tickets?

At least 16 years old.

Can I buy raffle tickets online?

Yes, you can enter our raffle online when the raffle is open. For RNIB raffle rules, please read our terms and conditions.

Winning the raffle

When will the next raffle be held?

The online Summer raffle closes on Wednesday 6 August 2014 and the draw date will be on Friday 8 August 2014. Winning tickets will be announced on our website by Friday 15 August 2014. The next raffle opens on 6 August 2014 and closes on 24 December 2014.

Why is there a gap of a week between the closing date and the draw date?

We need this time to collate all the tickets entries. However, you can still enter after the closing date for postal entries by purchasing electronic tickets. Just call our Fundraising Support and Enquiries team on 0845 345 0054 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm) after the last date for postal entries but before the draw date.

Can I get a list of the winners?

A list of the latest prize draw winners is published online shortly after each draw. It helps reduce our costs if you view the results online. However if you do require a printed version, please enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope with your entry. The winners listed will then be posted to you shortly after the draw. You can also obtain a list of winners by emailing fundraising@rnib.org.uk or ringing our Fundraising Support and Enquiries team on 0845 345 0054 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).
