Envision member, Alba de Toro Nozal met with North West MEP, Afzal Khan in Manchester on 19 June.

Alba spoke in particular about the importance of accessible apps, which are currently excluded from the EU directive on access to public websites. Alba was able to demonstrate this in a practical way by showing how she uses apps with speech on her iPhone.

During the meeting, Alba and Mr Khan also talked about the need for an EU Accessibility Act which would ensure manufacturers made everyday goods, such as TVs and microwaves, accessible to blind and partially sighted people. Alba also shared concerns about local transport and access issues.

Mr Khan has promised to raise our concerns at EU level and is also happy to support local work.
