The number of people in the UK with sight loss is predicted to double to nearly four million by 2050. Yet over 50 per cent of sight loss can be avoided.
RNIB's Save our Sight (SOS) campaign aims to challenge unnecessary sight loss, encourage regular eye checks and promote the importance of timely access to vital treatments.
RNIB Chief Executive, Lesley-Anne Alexander CBE says: "On World Sight Day, we are encouraging people to get their eyes tested. This is an important health check, because even if your vision seems OK, an eye test can detect problems you don't know you have - and save your sight."
