Blind and partially sighted people in Suffolk are campaigning against Suffolk County Council's decision last year to remove free 24/7 bus travel for disabled people.
The Council is reviewing the impact of this policy change at their July meeting and it's vital that they understand how it really affects blind and partially sighted people. Local bus users gathered evidence of the impact for a report which was submitted to the Council in May. Now it's time to write to and visit your local councillors and tell them how the loss of free peak time travel has affected your life. This will help bring the issue to life for them before they review the policy change.
Suffolk resident Sheila said "As a visually impaired person I don't have a choice of being able to drive or ride a bike. I have to rely on buses to get around. Taking away the free peak travel bus pass takes away my independence to travel at any time of the day, including to early hospital and other appointments and I have to rely on someone to drive me."
