Over 400 people marched through Norwich on Saturday 22 October to protest against cuts to disability benefits and services. The crowds gathered to march from Chapelfield Gardens into the centre of the city and returned to the gardens for a rally. Speakers included Jaspal Dhani, Chief Executive of UK Disabled Peoples' Council, Mark Harrison, Chief Executive of Norfolk Coalition of Disabled People and Janet Brandish, Chairperson of Opening Doors.
Siobhan Meade, who is visually impaired said "Sensory support cuts of 60 per cent means that my independence and quality of life now have a price tag".
Messages of support were received from people across the region and many were read out. Many disabled people who could not attend in person had their messages carried by other protesters at the event. Dave Rowntree prospective Labour Party candidate for Norwich South and member of the band Blur was amongst those marching in solidarity with disabled people.
