A group of blind and partially sighted students from Loughborough College swapped places on 2 May with bus drivers to demonstrate the barriers they face when travelling on buses.

Cars off pavements campaign launching in Leicestershire

There is a new Cars off Pavements campaign for the whole of Leicestershire launching on 5 March. After a highly successful pilot campaign working with Charnwood Borough Council, Charnwood Police and the RNIB it has been agreed amongst all of the local Councils throughout Leicestershire to take on the same approach.

Derby Rehab services saved…for now

At the end of last year, blind and partially sighted people from Derbyshire were shocked to find they were facing cuts to the much-needed VI Rehabilitation service in Derby. However just before Christmas the council announced they would save a specialist rehabilitaiton oficer post.

Nottingham City Council and RNIB win bus award

RNIB's regional and local campaign presence worked tirelessly during 2011 to secure outcomes across the UK. As a result of joint work between Nottingham City Council and RNIB, the local authority secured an accessibility award.

Hardest Hit Day of Action - East Midlands

Over 350 people attended a rally in Nottingham on Saturday 22 October to protest against cuts to disability benefits and services.

Nottingham City Council transport success

Nottingham City Council has been nominated for an Accessible Transport Award due to the work that has been done to improve the accessibility of information at bus stops for blind and partially sighted people.

A new voice in Northamptonshire

We are working with NAB (Northampton Association for the Blind) to develop an early warning system to inform people when construction/hazards will be in place in their area.

Leicestershire residents: "Get your cars off our pavements!"

A new 'Cars off pavements' campaign, with strong support from local MPs, Councillors and a number of residents groups, is being launched in Leicestershire.
