Travelling around Manchester

Our Sale volunteer set up a meeting with representatives from the transport authority in Greater Manchester where we discussed the problems that blind and partially sighted people have using the Metrolink tram system. Particular issues highlighted included difficulties using the new touch-screen ticket machines, the lack of AV announcements on platforms and safety when travelling. The meeting was productive and our concerns were listened to and they are keen to look for solutions. We have further meetings planned with the transport authority to look at other forms of transport across Manchester and we hope to work with them on a long-term basis.
